For mind mapping software, I’ve been a fan of FreeMind for a couple years now. I took a look at some of the other software available now and FreeMind is still my favorite, and it’s open source.

I personally think Mindjet Mind Manager is a little more robust and polished than FreeMind. It isn’t free you but it’s very easy to use and let’s you dump idea’s down really quickly and does a lot more than simple mind mapping.
